30 Thankful Thoughts from Christmas Break

When a slideshow of sweet moments flashes across my mind, I find it’s helpful just to create a note in Evernote or scratch down my stream of thoughts on paper. Today I wanted to share my download of 30 Thankful Thoughts from Christmas Break:

  1. Extra time with “Daddy” – my hubby who took Christmas week and New Year’s Day off of work (out of order but top of my list)
  2. A real Christmas tree – a tradition that takes me back to my childhood Christmas memories & unites my own family
  3. “Christmas house” – the name for our Christmasy decorated home
  4. Listening to Christmas music all month (O Holy Night – my absolute fav that moves me to tears)
  5. Amazon – Christmas shopping in one day
  6. A gift delivery day w/ my Gram whose eyes lit up when she gave her gift to her grandchildren
  7. Good homes for our two sweet Chesapeake Bay Retriever Christmas puppies
  8. Papa Murphy’s Pizza, a student driver, an ornament hunt, and an early Christmas surprise that surprised our children
  9. Fun gatherings to celebrate November/December birthdays for members of our family
  10. NO SCHOOL
  11. Leaving the waiting room for a breakfast date with my hubby while our oldest (no longer a minor) had knee surgery
  12. Successful and FREE ACL reconstructive surgery for our oldest son (Our 2017 insurance policy: Buy 1 Surgery, Get 3 FREE)
  13. Ski gear to share
  14. A repaired fence and gate to (hopefully) keep the balls and dogs IN
  15. Solidifying a writing accountability partnership with my Jesus-lovin’, creative writer friend, Maria Morgan
  16. Chs. 1-3 and edits complete and Bible Study questions written and SHIPPED to my writing coach
  17. Files transferred to my new computer, so I can spend time writing instead of waiting for my computer to think
  18. Remembering the real reason for CHRISTmas with my family through the Jesse Tree
  19. Homemade Cinnamon Coffee Rolls for breakfast – a (MANDATORY) Lee Cochran family tradition
  20. A Special Christmas gatherings with my in-loves and Gram (including a Southern Christmas dinner)
  21. Tickets to see Toby Mac with my family – a most thoughtful and meaningful gift from my oldest sons
  22. My heart-made beaded “KIND” necklace w/ dried leave strung on an elastic Christmas ribbon from my 2 youngest
  23. Leftovers – our Southern Christmas dinner blessed our plates for 3-4 more days!
  24. Our new AC with a 10-year warranty installed the morning that Texas froze in the afternoon
  25. Fleeces, hats, gloves, blankets, smartwool socks, and our fireplace that kept us alive when the heater broke
  26. DOWN time – BE time to rest, write, read, and play (Clue, air hockey, foosball, and football)
  27. Several sweet visits with family, friends, and our son’s girlfriend – some impromptu, some planned – all special
  28. Finishing my 6-day video + email series: Virtuous V.O.Y.A.G.E. – a project that took me 2-mos of work in the fringes
  29. Family circle time to reflect on 2017 and recognize the lessons to take into 2018
  30. My one page book proposal completed and a letter that initially seemed impossible to write, written

Do you ever download your thoughts in this way? Today I encourage you to stop and think about your current season of life. Grab paper and pen or type/peck away on your electronic-something. Download your flashing thoughts in list form. Take time to process thankful thoughts. Then say a little prayer and give God thanks for your blessings.
