Instructions
- Combine sugar and egg yolks in food processor until thick and yellow.
- In large saucepan, bring half 'n half to simmer. Cool slightly.
- If using food processor, carefully mix into egg mixture. Pulse until incorporated.
- Return mixture to saucepan. Simmer and stir till it coats the back of spoon.
- Strain with fine-medium mesh strainer into bowl with lid. Cool slightly. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Place cooled mixture in frozen ice cream cannister. Add cream. Insert paddle into lid and churn per your homemade ice cream maker's assembly and operating instructions. *Usually takes about 1-hour.
- Chill in freezer or serve immediately as soft-serve. Add toppings if desired. ENJOY!
Recipe Notes
*A homemade ice cream maker is required to churn the ice cream. I use a food processor for this recipe, but you could mix it by hand or with a hand/stand mixer.
Suggested toppings:
- chopped pecans*
- crushed Oreos
- sauce (chocolate, caramel, strawberry, etc.)
- freshly sliced peaches
- crushed candy bars (Butterfinger, Snickers, Reese's, etc.)
