Time for a What’s Up Update

In Blog by Shannon @Today's Lady Virtue

Joyful, happy Monday to you! Life is full here. Can you relate?

While I’d love to post here more than I do, the truth is this: I’m spending my limited writing time behind the scenes working on a book that I can’t wait to share with you. It’s not like other books out there. Why is that you may wonder? Because y-o-u, the reader are part of the story. It’s an experience. An adventure. And it’s life-transforming!

In the meantime, here’s a little peek into my world. It’s due time, my friend, for a What’s Up Update:

I’m reading . . . Anne of Green Gables. I’m loving this whimsical book and Anne’s vivid imagination. Refreshing. Why was I scared of the tiny print and 300 pages when I was a girl? Oh, well. Enjoying it now.

I’m loving . . . my 6 am rides on my Peloton bike. Are you a Peloton rider? Let’s connect on the leaderboard: #TLVirtue

I’m Pressing Pause . . . in quiet escapes when I need a soul break, thanks to this lovely devotional book for moms by Karen Ehman and Ruth Schwenk.

I’m studying . . . Hosea using a resource from Proverbs 31 Ministry: “Prone to Wander” experience guide.

I’m surveying . . . Matthew, Mark, Luke & John, on audio via my Bible app while I get ready for the day each morning.

I’m (re)learning . . . ancient history with my littles through Story of the World, Volume 1.

I’m winter dating . . . my hubby, which means going out for dinner & a movie or dessert & coffee.

I’m baking . . . almost a cake a month from now through June (excluding May), since January when we rounded the corner into “Birthday Season” for my family.

I’m savoring . . . this last semester of my oldest son’s senior year. He graduates in May 2018. Where did the time go? Why did I blink? Although this time is bittersweet, truly, I’m grateful and excited for God’s plans to unfold for my son! So thankful to now know he’s going be a Texas Aggie!

I’m driving . . . to a lot of football now that spring sports are back in full swing. Good time to connect with my kids en route to/from practice.

I’m excited about . . . getting to getaway with my hubby this April to celebrate my 40th birthday.

I’m thankful for . . . my parents who are excited to come spend time with their grandkids while Matt and I travel for my birthday.

I’m wondering . . . if I will have time to learn a wee bit more French on Babbel, my language app, before our trip?

I’m enthused about . . . the opportunity to attend Word Alive with Lysa TerKeurst & Kelly Minter at the Museum of the Bible in Washington D.C.

I’m working with . . . my beloved writing coach, Lorraine Pintus, to finish my first book “Live ReMARKably: A Life-Transforming Voyage to Virtue.”

I’m staying accountable (for writing) . . . thanks to my creative author friend, Maria I. Morgan. Have you checked out her Louie the Lawnmower or Outrageously Fruitful books?

I’m listening to . . . LOTS of songs on Alexa (Toby Mac, Hillsong United continuously, Old classic rock, My Girl, and several other songs).

Quote of the month . . . “Obey like Alexa.” Except when she’s confused by our voice commands, Alexa obeys her commands right away. My hubby and I are challenging our children to respond to our directions as quickly as Alexa.

A January win . . . finished book edits and my one page proposal by the deadline and released the V.O.Y.A.G.E., my 6-day video + email series. Each episode features a teaching video, related scripture verses, a relevant worship song, a call to action, and a prayer. Note: While this is published, it’s my first time to create an automation. There may be kinks! If so, please let me know.

A February win . . . finished edits on book and proposal edits, created my book trailer, and prepared my book package to share with my reMARKable pre-readers..

One way I saw God’s goodness . . . On the day of my book edit deadline, He removed one big burden through the help of a friend, enabled my kids and I to finish our homeschool early, delayed the start time of a service project I’d committed to, and helped me work swiftly before it was time to serve. Incredibly, I finished my edits ON TIME and had a few hours to serve my sweet MIL who is moving into a new home. Thank God for leftovers for dinner!

Family Fun . . . This March we saw Toby Mac in concert on his Hits Deep Tour extended! Over the past few years, my kids and I have spent HOURS listening to (more like singing with and dancing with) Toby Mac. His music touched our hearts and united us during hard parenting teens days. So, when my two oldest sons gave me a Toby Mac concert ticket for Christmas and informed my that my sweet hubby decided to make it a family event, getting tickets for the whole family to concert together, they blessed my Mama heart! Inspiring concert and meaningful family memory. So. Much. Fun.

What’s Up in y-o-u-r world? I’d love to hear from you. Share in the comments or on my TLV Facebook page.
